Our events
The Board of the Australian Maritime Museums Council meets online every two months, and in-person at least once a year.
The AMMC also partners with its member organisations to deliver a program of in-person workshops and seminars once a year.

Notice of Mark Hosking’s resignation as President
With this AGM, it is with sadness that we announce the resignation of Mark Hosking as President of the AMMC. Mark has served in this role since 2023, affording considerable expertise into the maritime heritage sector and particularly within Tasmania. A formal note of thanks will be offered at our upcoming AGM, and we wish Mark all the best.
Announcement of nominations for elected positions
Two Elected Delegate positions on the AMMC Board will be elected at this AGM, drawn from nominations provided by AMMC membership. The following candidates have offered themselves for election.
Jared Archibald has nominated for re-election to the position of Elected Institutional Delegate, with endorsement from Museum and Art Gallery Northern Territory.
Jared Archibald OAM has worked in the museum sector for over 30 years. He spent 16 years as taxidermist at Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, and has worked there as Curator of Territory History for more than 10 years. He also oversees the Maritime Collections, and has a passion for wooden vessels. Jared was was part of the team that developed the Defence of Darwin Experience at East Point, as well as being lead curator for Unruly Days: Life in the Territory 1911-1921.
Rosemarie Cooper has nominated for election to the position of Elected Institutional Delegate, with endorsement from Devonport City Council (Bass Strait Maritime Museum).
Rosie Cooper holds a Bachelor in Archaeological Practice (Honours) from the Australian National University, and a Masters in Cultural Heritake from Deakin University. She held positions at Burnie Regional Museum and the National Museum of Australia, and since 2024 has worked at Bass Strait Maritime Museum. Formerly Curator of Collections and Engagement, and now Museum and Collections Coordinator, Rosie’s responsibilites at BSMM include collections management, exhibitions curation, and museum administration.

Contemporary and digital interpretation for maritime museums
For the 2025 iteration of the AMMC’s annual in-person workshop and seminar program, we partnered with the team at WA Maritime Museum and WA Shipwrecks Museum for a series of talks on digital technologies in maritime museums, including immersive experiences and artificial intelligence.
