Tourism accolades for AMMC members in Western Australia
Two AMMC member museums from Western Australia have recently been recognised through tourism awards at a state and national level.
The Western Australian Maritime Museum was recognised as the Major Tourist Attraction for 2025 at the Fremantle Business Awards. This award follows a year of successful outcomes for the museum, including the delivery of world-class exhibitions and public programs that share and preserve Australian maritime heritage. Read more about this accolade on WA Museum’s website.
Albany’s Historic Whaling Station received national recognition at the 2026 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, achieving Silver in the Cultural Tourism category and Bronze in the Tourist Attraction category. These awards follow prior success at the 2025 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards, where the site was awarded Gold in both categories. Further details can be found on Albany’s Historic Whaling Station website.

The AMMC offers its congratulations to both organisations, and acknowledges the hard work of their staff and volunteers. These awards highlight the strong contribution of maritime museums and heritage sites to Australia’s tourism sector, and the strength of Western Australia’s museums in delivering engaging public programs and experiences for local and international audiences.
