Portland Maritime Museum to launch new First Nations gallery
This month, Portland Maritime Museum will launch its new Nyamat Mirring Gallery. Co-curated with Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, it will tell the story of Gunditjmara and First Nations connection to Sea Country and form an important entryway into the museum itself.

9th April 2025 marked the 200th anniversary of the arrival of convict transport Lady East in Hobart. Unusually for such a vessel, its portrait is held in an Australian collection.
